Zoella and Ghostwriting

There has been something in particular that has led me to write this post, and that is the comments that have been written under WHSmith's youtube video "Zoella Tells Us About Her Book 'Girl Online".
I am guessing everyone who is reading this will have heard of Zoella. She is a 24 year old Youtube and Beauty Blogger from Brighton. She started her blog in 2009 which then led her onto Youtube and being offered an amazing opportunity by Penguin to write a book. 'Girl Online' was released on the 25th November 2014, recently there has been a lot of controversy around the book being ghostwritten.

I think many people are forgetting that Zoe has no experience in writing books (apart from when she was younger and loved the write short stories. However i also did that, and could not go out and write a book!), she writes wonderfully on her blog, but writing a book is a whole other level. Lets be honest, if you had the opportunity to write a book, would you take it? If you was offered some help and guidance in formatting and the way the chapters flowed and writing techniques, would you take that? Having no writing experience, i know i would. The characters and the story of the book was thought up by Zoe herself, she just needed a little help in putting it together. I think the hate she has received is dreadful, through looking at the comments on the WHSmiths video, i couldn't help feeling so sad for Zoe. She has put her heart and soul into thinking of the story line, the characters, their personalities and putting bits and pieces together, and the fact is, we don't know how much or how little the book was actually ghostwritten. I personally, don't think she deserves all the hate she has received. People forget that Zoe is only 24 years old, she started off just by writing a blog and a youtube channel, she is just an average girl, like you and me.

Lets not forget there are many celebrities that have used ghostwriters when publishing there books. Even singers use ghostwriters to write their songs.

It can be so easy to type something over the internet and not realise how much hurt and upset it can create. Think about what you type, before you type it. Would you be ok to read it if it was aimed at you? If not, then think how the person it is about is going to feel when they read it.
Cyberbullying is not ok.

Blogmas Day 20: My Birthday!!

Today is my birthday!!!

It is also the day where i turn 24 years old, eeekkk!

I haven't got much planned for today, i like tradition i get up mega early because i am so excited (yes, you did read i was 24 years old above, i just can't help getting over excited!) i generally open my presents in the morning with my family and do little things throughout the day with the people that mean the most to me. This year, i am spending the morning with my family, afternoon with my boyfriend and the evening with my friends.

I have become very overwhelmed by stress and anxious thoughts as of late, and i am feeling the pressure of my social life and university work so today will be my last Blogmas post. I am really sad to be stopping Blogmas so close to the end but i really need the time to focus on my work and get things sorted and clear within my mind.

Blogmas Day 19: Reviewing The 2014 Bucket List

The 2014 Bucket List

I didn't end 2013 or start 2014 off to a good start, i wasn't in the best place and i was forever thinking of ways to get myself out of the rut i was in. That is when i decided to start a bucket list for 2014, of everything that i wanted to have achieved by the end of 2014. So i wrote everything down, and ticked off and dated when i had completed it. Since it is not very long until the end of the year, i thought it would be a good time to look back and review it.

So what was on my 2014 bucket list?

  1. Be Accepted onto the Social Welfare course at Worcester University (Date achieved 7/1/14)
  2. Pass my Foundation Degree in Early Years (Date Achieved 14/7/14)
  3. Graduate from my Foundation Degree in Early Years (Date achieved 7/11/14)
  4. Find a way to channel all my thoughts and not bottle them up inside (Date achieved 8/6/14 - the day i started my blog)
  5. Beat my anxiety - there was lots of little dates for this one, 7 to be exact, but i won't bore you with them all. Just the main focus of my anxiety was beaten on 29/11/14). I say that i beat my anxiety in the loosest of terms, as i don't fully believe you can ever beat anxiety, but i have gotten to a point where i can do what i was most anxious about and feel ok about doing it.

I am now going to start thinking what i can put on my 2015 bucket list!

Blogmas Day 18: iPhone 6 Plus

I HAVE THE IPHONE 6 PLUS

I am so very excited to be writing this post! I have been eyeing up the iPhone 6 Plus since the release date and i can now officially call it mine and oh boy do i love it!

Don't get me wrong, it is MASSIVE but i just love how big it is. It is super light, the camera and battery life is incredible. Yes, an iPhone with an incredible battery life. I can probably last three days without charing my phone which is incredible, since on some days i had to charge my iPhone 5 up twice!!

I opted for the colour gold as i was getting a little bored with the white and silver look and i really love it.

This is the comparison of sizes from my iPhone 5 to the iPhone 6 Plus.
I have got used to the size of the iPhone 6 Plus so easily, i actually went back to my iPhone 5 today to reset the settings as i am selling it on, and i couldn't believe how strange to felt to hold!

Blogmas Day 17: The Christmas Tag

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?

I love so many Christmas movies but there is one that i would reach for over the rest every single time and thats Miracle on 34th Street.

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
I open mine on Christmas Morning.

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
My favourite Christmas Day memories are when my Nan used to come over and join us. There always feels like there is something missing on Christmas Day now, even though we know she is there somewhere.

4. Favourite festive food?
It isn't really festive as such, but my mum always makes a desert which she calls a vanilla slice. We only have it once a year on Christmas Day and i always look forward to that!

5. Favourite Christmas gift?
I just really have a 'gift' as such that is my favourite. It is just being able to spend it with my family, to me, thats the greatest gift of all.

6. Favourite Christmas scent?
This is a tough one. Anything cinnamon really reminds me of Christmas, just the smell brings back loads of Christmas memories!

7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
Yes, on Christmas Eve when i was little me and my Dad used to go to shopping in the day and to see the Panto in the evening! Now that i am older, i have just carried on this tradition but instead i do it with my friend. I hope to carry this on with my own children one day too.

8. What tops your tree?
We have a star at the top of our tree.

9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
I wanted my own Reindeer, Rudolf to be exact. Sadly i never received one, but i did receive a cuddly toy version!!

10. What’s the best part about Christmas for you?
I just love the whole day, from waking up and feeling really excited like your five years old again. To seeing the expressions on peoples excited faces when they open the presents that you spent ages looking and searching for. Eating so much that you can't move for the rest of the afternoon or evening, yet still being asked if you want any Dinner! Most of all, i just love spending that relaxing, quality time with my family.

Blogmas Day 16: Decorating a real Christmas tree

Following on from yesterdays post about shopping for a Christmas Tree, my boyfriend and myself, i have now decorated it and put all the lights on (with much difficulty!)

This may be a work in progress as this is the first year he has done his own tree so there wasn't many decorations to put on it! I think it may be a good idea to try and find some really nice decorations in the sale after Christmas!

Blooms Day 15: Christmas Tree Shopping

I have never had a real Christmas Tree, so when my boyfriend said that he wanted to get a real tree for his place this year, i jumped at the chance to go and help him choose one! We went to our nearby garden centre and picked up some decorations and lights too!

Come back for tomorrows blog post on what the tree looks like decorated! Since we messed up with the lights, we couldn't decorate it all today!
